My Acne Journey with Clifford Aesthetics: How I Finally Found My "Mummy Glow" Again ✨🌸
Hello, beautiful people! 💖
If you’ve been following my IG stories for the past few months, you probably noticed I’ve been a bit quiet about my actual skin texture, or I’ve been a little "MIA" on some days more than usual. 🫠
Honestly, guys, my skin was going through a really rough patch. Being a mummy to two super active boys (who are basically a 24/7 workout lol) plus doing regular livestreams for work really took a toll. Between the lack of sleep and the stress, my skin just couldn't take it anymore. I was getting these deep, painful breakouts that just wouldn't go away, and my face was constantly shiny by midday.
I’ve been seeing the doctors, Dr Ee and Dr Chow, at Clifford Aesthetics for years, since acne has always been a struggle for me since my secondary school days. I went back to the clinic again to consult Dr Law this time round and get his advice on treating my acne. Here is exactly what we did over the last few months to get my skin back on track.
chin breakout before AviClear
18th September 2025: Starting with AviClear (1st treatment)
We started with AviClear, which is a laser specifically for acne. The whole point of this is to target the oil glands selectively so your skin stops overproducing oil and causing clogs.

Dr Law being very gentle with AviClear device on my skin, I was actually feeling very nervous as I didn’t know what to expect for my first treatment..
The Pain Factor: On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give this a 6.5. I’m not going to lie, I was quite nervous! But the staff were so sweet; they even gave me a massage ball to squeeze to calm myself down haha. It felt like a quick snap on the skin followed by a cold sensation. It’s not exactly a spa treatment, but it’s fast! I walked out with a slightly pink face, but I could go straight home to handle the kids without much downtime.

1-2 Weeks Post-Treatment: For the first week or so, my chin acne was still very much visible, and I was wondering if the treatment was actually working. But by the second week, I started to see the acne slowly subsiding. It wasn't an overnight "poof, it's gone" moment, but it was that 2-week mark that made me realize the AviClear treatment was gradually taking effect. My skin just felt... calmer, clearer with less redness.

9th October 2025: Vbeam + Q-Switch Laser
About three weeks after my 1st AviClear treatment, the oil production was starting to reduce, and inflammation was calming down, but I still had a lot of red marks on my cheeks from my old breakouts.
We did a combo of Vbeam and Q-Switch laser. Q-switch to reduce my acne scarring and for overall skin brightening, while Vbeam is my absolute favorite for redness — it basically fades those red spots and patches, especially in my cheeks. After this session, my skin looked so much calmer. I didn't feel like I had to hide under so much concealer every time I left my house.
18th November 2025: AviClear (2nd treatment)
Time for the second session of AviClear.
By this point, I noticed my skin wasn't as oily as before. Usually, at midday, I’d have to use tissue to blot my face like crazy, but I was starting to notice my sunblock actually staying put (I don’t apply foundation, btw). Knowing what to expect this time made the discomfort much easier to handle!

Just before Christmas, I had a few stubborn breakouts on my chin and cheeks that kept flaring up in the same spot. Even when the rest of my face was clearing up, these pesky invaders just refused to leave. It was so annoying! 😤
29th December 2025: Zapping the Stubborn Spots (Q-Switch + AGNES)
Dr Law recommended AGNES, a targeted acne treatment that uses a tiny needle with radio frequency to "zap" the specific oil gland causing the recurring breakouts. Fyi, I’ve struggled with acne for more than 2 decades, and I’ve done 2x AGNES in 2015 (11 years ago) for my severe cystic acne skin. Now I’m back again, but this time round only for adult acne-prone areas.
We also did a Q-Switch on my chin to fade off existing acne marks and to brighten up my overall skin tone.

The Pain Factor: Surprisingly, the pain for this AGNES was minimal! Before starting, Dr Law gave me a small injection of local anesthesia (numbing) for those targeted areas, so I barely felt anything during the actual procedure. It was much more comfortable than I expected.
Post-Treatment: Right after, my skin had some redness at the targeted spots, but that’s totally normal. All I needed to do was to trust the process, apply Foban cream on these areas, rest, and wait for my skin to heal.
30th December 2025: The Cleanup (Radio Frequency Extraction)
I went back the next day for a follow-up. We did some Radio Frequency extraction to clear out any trapped gunk and reduce any potential inflammation.
I won't lie, extractions are never fun, but the relief of seeing those bumps flatten out the next day is so worth it. It saved me from having a massive breakout right as we were heading into a brand New Year, and I really wanted to start the new year with beautiful, glowing, and clear skin.
13th January 2026: The Final Glow-Up (Q-Switch)
To start 2026 well, I went back again for one more session of Q-Switch laser, 1 month before cny. This was more of an "extra 爱美" step. It helps to reduce acne marks and just makes my overall skintone look brighter and more luminous. My skin finally felt smooth and, most importantly, healthier and clearer again.
Q-switch is easily ranked 1 of my top 3 post-acne scarring treatments!
Final Thoughts after 4 months 💭
I’m not embarrassed to admit that as a busy mum to 2 boys (boys are entirely a different beast!), I don’t have time for a 10-step kbeauty skincare routine. 😮💨 I need things that actually work and are effective in the shortest period of time.
What I’ve noticed after going through the past 4 months of treatments to treat my acne again:
Way Less Oil & Acne Breakout: I’m not constantly reaching for tissues to blot off the oil on my forehead, cheeks, and chin anymore.
Easier Mornings: I can actually leave the house for school drop-offs and pick up my boys without feeling like I need to put on concealer.
Confidence on Camera: My skin looks so much smoother and clearer on my livestreams, even without the heavy filters, which is great because I’ve been doing quite a fair bit of beauty streams, so my skin needs to look its best on most days!
It definitely takes some patience, guys… It’s not a one-day miracle to achieve clear skin, and you have to go through all the various treatment sessions on different days, but the results are sooo worth it. If you’re struggling with your skin and feel like you’ve tried everything, I really recommend just going for a consult at Clifford Aesthetics. The doctors, Dr Ee, Dr Chow - both have looked after my skin for many years, & Dr Law has been so patient and gentle with my sensitive, oily & acne-prone skin, they really know what they’re doing, so you’ll be in good hands!
