MY BATTLE WITH ACNE. YOU NEED TO READ THIS. (PART III)
June 26, 2016

Heya, work has been cray cray the past months. But thankfully I managed to take a short breather off work during mid-June and spend some quality time with my loved ones. (:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGuDhcQvGDH/

Anyway, I was looking through my posts and realized it’s been half a year (omg! time flies!) since my last update on my journey with The Clifford Clinic.. So decided that this will be my final update on my acne-free journey with them.

Note: Photos below were not subjected to any forms of filter or spots editing, other than re-sizing and covering of eyes in some photos.

For those who have yet to read Part II of my blog entry with the clinic, do click here!

Looking back, it’s been a year since I’ve embarked on my acne-free journey with Dr.Gerard and his clinic in June 2015. I love how my marks have lightened after each Q-Switch Laser Treatment. You will see how my acne condition have stabilised (thanks to AGNES Treatment) and my marks lightened at the end of the treatments!

What is Q-Switch Laser Treatment?
Q-switch laser is one of the non-invasive beauty treatments that really works to lighten pigmentation, acne marks and brown spots! For acne sufferers, this is a god-send beauty treatment for us because the results will be visible after few sessions! However, you should have a realistic expectation that Q-switch laser will not help to achieve a 100% acne marks clearance, but do expect at least a 75%-90% clearance of marks/spots on your face!

See below for my skin progress with The Clifford Clinic.

Subsequent Q-switch treatments (October 2015 to April 2016)
As I’ve got super sensitive skin as well (yes, I know I’ve got many many skin woes), my face will flush and turn red after each Q-switch session. That’s not to say that your skin will turn as red as mine because our skin sensitivity level varies.

For those of you who are blessed with normal skin type, and just want to go for your regular skin maintenance, your colleagues won’t even be able to tell you’ve just went for Q-switch laser during lunch-time simply because the treatment involve minimal to no downtime! (:

Despite the red flushes, I secretly looked forward to having clearer skin in the following days to come after each session. ^^

This should be one of the final Q-switch sessions I’ve done with the clinic. Thankful that my skin has become less sensitive and wasn’t as flushed as when I first embarked on the treatments.

Subsequent Recovery after Q-switch laser treatments (October 2015 to April 2016)

In between the sessions, I experienced minor outbreaks due to late nights and stress. But thanks to Q-switch treatments, the healing process was much faster and to be honest, I was pretty amazed at the recovery of my acne and the marks by the end of the treatments.

Notice how my forehead glowed and there were no more 3D bumps!

Upon closer look, you can see how my skin became fairer with reduced red blotches.

Under natural lighting. With light makeup on my face.

I told myself I’ve got to be realistic with the outcome. There’s no 100% guarantee that I can have a perfect canvas from all the treatments. But hey! Look at the state of my complexion.

ACNE CLEARANCE: 90%

Applied full makeup because I felt hiao (I know I have pretty huge pores..). How do you find my complexion? Not too bad for the end result yea?

As I wrap up my blog post, here’s the complete progression of my treatments with The Clifford Clinic over the past one year.

Right side

Left side

You know how we women are constantly seeking out new beauty treatments, and are so conscious of how others perceive us. Even when we just spotted one new pimple on our face, we’ll attempt to conceal them perfectly, and pray that people won’t stare at that hideous spot during conversation. You know what I mean?

At the end of 2 AGNES treatments and 10+ Q-switch laser sessions, I’m happy to say that I’ve regained my confidence and self-esteem, in the sense that I’m less affected (not entirely though) by how others view me and my physical outlook.

For me, it’s not about having flawless complexion. It’s really about achieving healthy skin glow and being comfortable in my skin that I can be make-up free when I go out. Not having 3D acne bumps to conceal all over the face so much so that I look like a make-up doll. And I’m deeply thankful to Dr.Gerard and The Clifford Clinic for fixing my acne skin issues over the past one year!

Hi Sherlene,
Congrats that your skin had recovered from the breakout.
I had acne start popping out 3 years ago, had tried many treatments and even started with Acutane. My acne recovered 100% went I am on that medication, but unfortunately every time after I finish the course and stop Acutane the breakout will come back again. It become worst every time. Now I had took 3 course of Acutane and the acne still coming back and this time it even spread to my chest and back area (really bad). I don’t want to keep taking this medication cause it is very harmful to my health and it is not a Long term treatment. Really get so stressful and affected by it.

Do you mind sharing the cost of your full treatment? And can Dr.Gerard treat the acne on the body as well?

    Hi Faith,

Thanks for your message, and for sharing your experiences with me. (‘:

Yes, roaccutane, accurate are merely short term treatment options for acne, and they do recur on the same spot months after I’ve stopped consuming the meds.

I would say AGNES treatment did work for me very well, as results speak for themselves. 2 sessions are all it takes to get me on the recovery route. Per AGNES treatment costs $1.5K. I believe Dr Ee also treats body acne, perhaps it’s best you give the clinic a call and arrange for an appointment with him.

I hope it helps you! (:

Hi Sherlene!
Your story offers a glimpse of hope for acne sufferers like us .
But did you spend a fortune on 2 Agnes treatments and the subsequent laser sessions ? Mind disclosing the price range?

Hi sherlene, congrats on ur battle won with acne. May I ask if u are still using the facial products which the clinic provide throughout this journey or u use ur own product?

Thanks!
Serene

    Hi Serene,

Thanks! I’ve been pretty diligent in applying the skincare pdts from clinic for the 1st 6 mths. Subsequently, I switched to over the counter pdts as my skin has stabilised. Right now, I’ve restarted using the clinic pdts again to contain breakouts. (:
